X. While you are waiting to see one of the above agencies for an assessment, go to Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous daily (Informational pamphlets available in the Emergency Department waiting area).

If the assessment agency recommends Detox as the first step of your Treatment Plan, have the agency contact your regular Primary Doctor to arrange a possible DIRECT ADMISSION to the hospital. If you do not have a regular doctor, go to the Emergency Department with your written Treatment Plan during the daytime hours for the quickest care. A written Treatment Plan increases the likelihood of admission, but it DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADMISSION. The final decision rests with the Emergency Physician and is based on medical necessity.

ADATSA Referral Process

·ADATSA is the DSHS program that pays for Drug or Alcohol Treatment at an INPATIENT Treatment Center. If you want outpatient treatment only, you do not need to apply for ADATSA.

·YOU MUST HAVE AN ADATSA ASSESSMENT IF YOU WANT TREATMENT AT AN INPATIENT DRUG OR ALCOHOL FACILITY, ANDYOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR OWN INSURANCE OR MONEY TO PAY FOR TREATMENT.

·To get ADATSA, you will need to take these steps:

1.Find out if you can apply for DSHS services. You must be eligible for DSHS services to get ADATSA.

2.If you are found eligible (or if you are on WASHINGTON MEDICAID already), DSHS must make a referral to ADATSA before an actual ADATSA assessment can be done.

3.After a referral to ADATSA has been made, you will need to schedule an ADATSA Assessment Appointment. The average Assessment Appointment is 7 working days from the time the referral is

made by your DSHS caseworker.

4.Go to the ADATSA Assessment Appointment.

Important Items to Remember about ADATSA:

• DSHS is located in Kelso at 711 Vine Street. The main phone # is 501-2400.

• Your DSHS caseworker is the best place to start in getting a referral to ADATSA.

• The ADATSA Assessment staff will work with you to decide which Treatment Center is going to help you the most. They will arrange a bed for you as soon as possible.

• Most ADATSA assessments will take between 1.5 and 2 hours. All appointments are strictly confidential.
