To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter in support of DAPC’s proposed project for an inpatient treatment center for pregnant and postpartum mothers and their children. This treatment facility would be a valuable asset to our community. Currently, the closest facility that treats this population and allows children to remain with then- mothers is in the Seattle area. There are cases where social workers are reluctant to recommend that the younger children in the family go to the out-of-town treatment facility with their mother because the social worker feels the need to monitor parenting ability closely. A treatment facility such as the one proposed, in our local area, would allow mothers of young children to continue to parent their children while receiving much-needed treatment. Outpatient treatment could continue in our community without a disruption in service or family structure.

Kelso Children’s Services pledges our willingness to help DAPC implement this program and offer support where it is needed. This proposed project is an excellent and much-needed service.

Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
